Fairy Meadow is a CityRail railway station on the South Coast railway line. It serves the residential Wollongong suburb of Fairy Meadow. The station has two side platforms, connected by a pedestrian overbridge and level crossing. It is located at Elliotts Road. The station is served by about one train per hour for most of the time (usually a Thirroul-Port Kembla local service), with additional trains at weekday peak hours.
The station opened on 3 October 1888 as Para Meadow. In 1909 the name was changed to Balgownie and in 1956 the current name was adopted.The station underwent maintenance in early 2011. This included the resurfacing of the two platforms, new garden beds underneath the stairs and repainted exteriors.

WOLLONGONG FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE
Wollongong’s FREE Gong Shuttle bus makes it easy to get around Wollongong’s City Centre, University, TAFE and beaches.
The first Gong Shuttle leaves Wollongong University in both directions from 7:00am Monday to Friday and 8:00am on weekends. Last service leaves Wollongong University in both directions from 9:40pm Monday to Friday and 5:50pm on weekends.
The service operates between 7:00am and 10:00pm from Monday to Friday; every 10 minutes during peak hours (7:00am – 9:00am & 3:00pm – 6:00pm) and every 20 minutes off-peak hours. The weekend service will operate every 20 minutes between 8:00am and 6:00pm.
The Gong Shuttle travels in both directions starting at Wollongong University.
Buses travelling via Fairy Meadow – Harbour – Hospital are route 55C and buses travelling via Hospital – Harbour – Fairy Meadow are route 55A.
